Stress has marked effects on our personal, emotional and professional well-being. The human stress response triggers a cascade of physical and physiological reactions. Levels of certain hormones shift in response to thoughts and conditions, upsetting concentration, appetite, sleep patterns, metabolism, and impairing the body’s natural defenses.

Chronic or persistent stress (such as pandemic-related stress) can lead to adrenal dysfunction and burnout, leaving us feeling depleted of energy and causing wear and tear on the body.

Stress can’t always be avoided, but nutrition and lifestyle modifications can help the body adapt to and recover from its effects. This empowering session provides a roadmap for building resilience by teaching you which specific foods and nutrients can help the body restore homeostasis.

This session will cover:

  • Acute stress vs. chronic stress
  • The normal stress response vs. chronic stress response, HPA Axis
  • Body systems/organs affected by stress (especially digestion, nervous, adrenals, thyroid)
  • Cortisol: Friend and Foe
  • Interventions
